A handsome American studio art glass vase by Vandermark (Vandermark-Merritt Glass Studios, New Jersey), signed and dated 1976 on the underside. Approximately 7 inches tall.
The vase takes a classic shouldered baluster form with a gracefully pinched and flared tri-lobed rim. The body is decorated with a bold pulled-feather design — trailed green and ivory threads drawn into sweeping plumes that swirl around a central hooked medallion, a direct nod to the Art Nouveau techniques of Tiffany and Quezal that Vandermark revived so successfully in the 1970s.
The satin-matte opal ground glows soft celadon and cream, with a delicate pearlescent iridescence that flashes pink and lavender across the rim and shoulder as it turns. The surface has a wonderful velvety hand-finished texture.
The polished pontil area is engraved in script "Vandermark" with the date 1976 and an inventory number (appears to read 0491).
