René Lalique "Ornis" Opalescent Glass Vase, Designed 1926 — Marcilhac No. 976, Signed

A striking René Lalique "Ornis" vase, a model introduced in 1926 and one of the most recognizable of Lalique's Art Deco bird designs. The name derives from the Greek word for bird; the form is sometimes referred to as "Oreilles Oiseaux."

The footed, funnel-form body is executed in blown-molded glass with two stylized birds forming the handles, each molded separately and applied hot to the sides of the bowl. The opalescence is concentrated in the birds and in the ringed stem of the foot, shifting between milky white and pale blue depending on the light, while the body remains clear and polished above a broad frosted circular foot.

Signed to the underside of the base in engraved script: R. Lalique France.

Condition: Excellent. No chips, cracks, or repairs. Light surface scratches to the underside of the base consistent with age and normal use. No damage.
