R. Lalique "Perles" Opalescent Glass Vase
A beautiful example of René Lalique's celebrated "Perles" (Pearls) vase, designed in 1926 and produced at the Wingen-sur-Moder glassworks during the height of the Art Deco period. The ovoid form is wrapped in graceful draped swags of raised glass beads, with a continuous row of larger pearls forming a decorative collar around the base. The opalescent glass shifts beautifully in changing light, taking on milky blues and warm honey tones — the optical quality that made Lalique's opalescent pieces among the most coveted decorative objects of the 20th century.
The molded "R. LALIQUE FRANCE" signature on the underside dates this piece to before 1945; after René Lalique's death that year, the firm's marks dropped the "R." This makes it an authentic pre-war production, hand-finished in the master's lifetime.
