Daum France Crystal Clover Bowl

A sculptural four-lobed clover in full lead crystal by Daum, the celebrated French glasshouse founded in Nancy in 1878. The piece is formed as a single heavy mass, with four rounded petals rising around a shallow central well and deep satin-frosted channels pressed between each lobe. The contrast is the whole point: mirror-polished clear crystal catches and throws light along the petal walls, while the frosted passages read as soft white, giving the form its dimension from every angle.

Substantial in the hand at just over two and a half inches tall and six and a half inches across, it works as a catchall for rings and keys on a dresser, a vide-poche by the door, a nut or olive dish on a bar cart, or simply as a bit of light on a shelf. The underside is ground and polished flat so it sits cleanly on any surface.
