It is decorated with nasturtiums in bright orange, with sage and olive-green leaves and long, flowing stems. The design wraps around the shouldered body, and the colors move from deep chocolate brown at the neck to warm amber and orange at the base. The vase is finished in Rookwood’s well-known high-gloss Standard Glaze.

Leona Van Briggle joined Rookwood in 1899, so this vase dates from the start of her time there.
